This project celebrates the raw humanity and tender moments of drag performers, both in and out of their performance attire. Through the lens of my camera, I aim to capture the essence of their journey—the bravery, vulnerability, and strength it takes to live authentically every day in a world that often misrepresents or marginalizes their stories.
The performers featured in this series are not defined by the costumes they wear but by the hearts they wear on their sleeves. This project highlights the softer side of drag: the desire to be seen and accepted for who they truly are. Their journey is one of self-definition, of crafting and owning their femininity, masculinity, and essence—sometimes in defiance of societal expectations.
I believe that drag is more than just a performance; it is an act of resilience, self-love, and self-expression. Through my work, I aim to offer space for the community to share their true selves—where their characters, stories, and realities are celebrated, not reduced or minimized. Though I am a woman, I understand the complexity of defining one’s femininity and character. I want to provide a space for the drag community to do the same.
Each image in this collection is an opportunity to correct the narrative that has too often been skewed, to show these queens and kings not as the world expects but as they see themselves: raw, tender, powerful, and unapologetically true.
This is a celebration of those who have the courage to exist beyond the stereotypes, the bravado, and the societal limitations. Their stories are worth hearing, their truths are worth seeing.
