On assignment in Greece, I captured a vow renewal in Milos with the same trust once placed in me to tell survivor stories for nonprofit Darkness to Light. Through light, texture, and landscape, I documented love, resilience, and the island’s breathtaking beauty.

Le Gâteau is an international collective and curatorial project founded and run by fellow artists.

Their gallery is committed to making worldwide connections with other creatives through exhibitions and collaborations. They are interested in working with and showcasing contemporary artists from all countries and across all mediums of creativity.

As a Black woman from the American South, bringing my creative lens to this village sparked deeply thoughtful conversations around image-making, representation, and intention. It was an honor to teach a marketing workshop to local growers, makers, and curious historians. I had no idea how needed this offering would be until I saw the courtyard filled with eager minds—even those who couldn’t find a seat stood outside, listening closely as I spoke on authenticity, origin stories, and the power of visual storytelling. Today, I still see the ripple effects in their feeds, in their messages of gratitude, and in the generous offerings they’ve given me—fruit from their land, treasures from their artisan shops.

This exhibit showcases the transformative journey of healing through portraiture, storytelling, and creative collaboration. Each image and story reflect strength, hope, and the powerful spirit that defines our community.
