Before my lecture with SCAD students at SAV
Better late than never! Back in January of this year, I had the opportunity to fly to Savannah to be reconnected to some fellow SCAD Bees and my recent experience was nothing short of magical. Over four exhilarating days filled with portfolio reviews, workshops, and an artist talk, I had the privilege of witnessing students flourish and embrace their creative genius.
As I stepped onto the vibrant campus of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), I was immediately struck by the palpable energy of creativity that permeated the air. It was clear from the outset that this was a place where innovation thrived and artistic expression knew no bounds.
The heart of my experience lay in the mentorship sessions, where I had the opportunity to connect with aspiring artists and provide feedback on their portfolios. Each encounter was a testament to the immense talent and dedication of the students, as they poured their hearts and souls into their work. From mesmerizing illustrations to thought-provoking installations, every piece spoke volumes about the unique perspective and vision of its creator.
One of the highlights of the event was the series of workshops, where students had the chance to hone their skills and explore new techniques under the guidance of seasoned professionals. Whether it was mastering the intricacies of digital design or experimenting with mixed media, there was something for everyone to learn and grow from.
The crowning moment of the experience was undoubtedly the artist talk, where I had the honor of sharing my own journey and insights with a captivated audience. It was a humbling experience to see the impact that my words had on the aspiring artists in the room, and I left feeling inspired by their enthusiasm and passion for their craft.
Throughout it all, I couldn't help but be struck by the sense of community and camaraderie that permeated the event. From the supportive faculty to the fellow mentors, everyone came together to celebrate creativity in all its forms. It was a reminder that art has the power to bring people together and transcend barriers, uniting us in a shared pursuit of beauty and expression.
As I reflect on my time at SCAD Savannah, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of such an inspiring and transformative experience. The memories created and the connections forged will stay with me for years to come. And to @sebdbriones, whose talent behind the lens captured these special moments, I am immensely grateful.
