AFRONAUTS Has Landed in ATLANTA

thought I was documenting migration. I was wrong.

I was documenting contribution.

AFRONAUTS follows real people who trusted themselves enough to leave what they knew, build belonging somewhere new, and bring their own gifts into the communities they found there.

That’s the heartbeat of this work: self-trust, exploration, cultural infusion, and the courage to imagine yourself beyond what you already know.

Now those stories are living in a place built for movement—MARTA’s Oakland City Station—through documentary photography, illustrated reinterpretations, field notes, and sound.

My hope? That somewhere between the platform and your destination, you recognize a little of the Afronaut in yourself.

Self-trust will propel you further than any map.

Big love to @cliffdoesitall for capturing the opening artist talk and turning the camera toward the guests to hear what the work sparked in them. Those reflections are fuel as I continue toward the final AFRONAUTS book.
